Xue’s new work is a continuation of her dark fairy tale theme.

She adds: “My take on the traditional fairy tale is tinged with a sardonic twist. There is a juxtaposition of light-headed sauciness with the macabre. This piece is my version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. I like the jellified effects, which is a new painting technique for me.
